New Collection - Spring 2008: Connect the Dots

This tightly edited collection of diverse textiles marks the launch of our third decade. Highlights include Ringtoss, Disc-o, Ring-o, Archetype and Connect the Dots, designs that use the dot or circle as the grammar of pattern language. According to Mark Pollack, "The entire collection evolved from intermixing different surfaces, grounds, yarns, and fibers: nubby wools with linens, or taffetas with velvet. These are simpler fabrics than we've typically done in the past, with more open space in the designs. Many incorporate only two colors, or two weave effects."    View these designs.

Color galore, reflective luster and a light-hearted bull's-eye design make this stunning design as appealing as child's play. The concentric rings of embroidered polka dots gleam with viscose stitches that follow around the curve. As the stitches change direction, so does the impression of color, and each ring flickers in tone as light moves over the surface, or as the angle of view changes. The six fashion-conscious embroidery colors in each bull's eye are fresh and striking combinations that play off the rich iridescence of the silk taffeta ground.   [download press image]

Doublecloth pockets of sheer polyester create a gentle, atmospheric swirl of pattern and moiré in EDDY, a reversible, FR and 121" wide window fabric. Two filling yarns, each a slightly different color, account for the tone-on-tone subtlety of this non-directional pattern, as well as its softly rippled surface.

ASTRAKHAN, the name for Persian lamb fur, is our woolen version of this striking texture, produced by a traditional fancy twist yarn. A crepe weave creates varied lengths of filling floats, yet no pattern, making these lush, cushioning loops of wool the focus of this design.

FLAXIMUM revels in the natural, unselfconscious beauty of pure linen. In a simple dobby weave, the slub yarns create a lively little texture. Working with two striped and two solid color yarns also creates visual texture, stippling FLAXIMUM with the quiet and complex tints of nature. [download press image]

Palio 4117, Pagentry 4118, and Ringtoss 9142 photo

Palio 4117, Pagentry 4118 and
Ringtoss 9142 [+]

Our PALIO is a winning stripe that boldly celebrates color. Stretching across the fabric in a filling-faced satin construction, six sophisticated shades band the cotton face in a carefully modulated sequence of stripes that range from delicate lines to broader strokes.

Broad stripes herald our PAGEANTRY in a magnificent display of stately, splendid color! Unfurling across the fabric's width, these filling-faced satin stripes mask a fine polyester warp beneath the cotton weft. Three colors rhythmically repeat over bands of three different widths in a vivid graphic statement.

Eyelet lace is new again, and never more so than in RINGTOSS, our clever interpretation of this very old method of cutwork embroidery. Woven of inherently FR Trevira CS polyester, the iridescent taffeta ground of this window fabric is made "lacy" by cutting away small circles and binding the edges in a thick ring of buttonhole stitches. These circles link up to outline a larger ring that repeats in a grid across the surface.   [download press image]

A curvaceous pattern of dense, soft viscose velvet ripples across the surface of FLOW against a voided polyester ground. Cross-dyeing separately colors each lustrous yarn to create a richly elegant fabric.   [download press image]
